Reading—In Search Of The Amber Room教学设计

一、教学设计思路

本节课我采用自主型教学和任务型教学的方法,让学生对课文进行阅读理解。自主型教学是学生在老师的指导下自主地进行学习。任务型教学是英语新课标中倡导的一种英语教学方法。根据新课标的规定标准及课堂教学设计的特点,本节课的设计思路如下:

导入:教师首先复习文化遗产的概念,并提出国外国内几个著名的文化遗产名称。然后展示一些琥珀图片,让学生猜测这些是什么材料,在展示琥珀制品的图片后,导入文章标题,看看课文的题目,让学生猜测一下课文所要讲述的主要内容。

教师播放课文录音,请同学快速地阅读课文,并回答教师提出的与课文有关的问题并找出问题形式段落大意的正确顺序,然后让学生仔细阅读课文的每一段,回答教师设计好的问题。其间,教师让学生以不同的方式朗读课文。然后,教师通过展示文章中的人名,地名和时间来帮助学生总结阅读课文,并检验他们理解、口头表达和合作的能力。

最后教师布置一项辩论赛的任务和复述课文的作业,让学生用语言来表达出对文化遗产的正确态度。

二、 学习任务分析

本单元主要围绕“文化遗产”这一中心话题展开,而本文题为In Search Of The Amber Room, 阅读文章通过对琥珀屋这一具体的世界文化遗产离奇历史的介绍,特别是介绍了琥珀屋离奇的故事和价值,使学生更进一步了解文化遗产的珍贵。

目标:   1、锻炼学生的阅读能力

2、使学生了解更多关于文化遗产和琥珀屋的历史。

3、激发学生保护珍贵文化遗产的意识。

教学难点:1、如何提高学生的阅读能力和如何使其能更好的理解课文?

          2、怎样掌握文章的重点?

3、使学生能够积极讨论文化遗产的话题。

四、教学目标

理论依据:《全日制普通高级中学教科书》

根据新课标的规定及其高一学生的特点及基础,把本节课的教学目标定为:

1、语言知识方面:  A.单词:amazing,design,fancy,decorate,belong,reception

                  B.词组:in search of, belong to, in return, at war, less than

2、语言技能方面:   使学生掌握和运用文化遗产的词汇及表达法,可以较好地运用并进行关于文化遗产保护和重建话题的交流,提高读及说的技能。

3、  学习策略方面:  A.兴趣策略:通过出示图片提高学生对学习的兴趣,

                        通过听录音,使学生产生模仿的兴趣。                                                                       

               B.自主型学习的策略:通过提问题让学生自己找答案,看谁找的又快又准来激励他们。

               C.任务性教学策略:要求学生在理解文章过程中,完成小组合作的辩论和复述课文的作业。

    4、情感态度方面:    A. 通过激发兴趣的方法,使学生积极参与到课堂活动中,产生强烈的求知欲。

                  B. 通过互动等方式,增进师生间的友情,让学生感受到教师的和蔼可亲,达到进一步的信任。

    5、文化意识方面::通过学习,了解著名的世界文化遗产琥珀屋,以及其发展的历史及珍贵,从而拓宽他们的文化视野,加深对文化遗产的理解和掌握。

五、教学设备

黑板,录音机,电脑,投影仪。

六、教学设计分析(Teaching Procedures )(40 ms)

教师活动内容﹑方式

Step 1 Greetings

 Greet the whole class as usual.

Step2 Lead—in

 Review the defination of cultural relics and show some pictures of amber. Look at the screen and guess what those pictures are. Ask them whether they know something about amber, then show them the pictures of amber products. Let them predict what the text may talk about.

Step 3 Reading

1.Skimming

The students guess what the text will be about according to the title.Then they listen to the tape and answer some questions on the screen. Ask students to find out the main idea of each paragraph by doing exercise 2.

Q:  Why is it called the Amber Room?

The main idea of each paragraph

Para 1:  How was the Amber Room made? 

Para 2:  Why did the King of Prussia give the Amber Room to the Czar of Russia as a gift?            

Para 3:  How did the Amber Room become one of the wonders of the world? 

Para 4:  How did the Amber Room get lost? 

Para 5:  How was a new Amber Room built?  

   

2. Scanning

This is an individual work. Ask the students to scan one paragraph by one paragraph to find the detailed information. Let them read the para1 and fill in a chart..

 It took the country’s best artists about ten years to make it.

Encourage the students to find the sentences in the text. They should finish this task by themselves.

Let them find the use of the Amber Room in different places.

Then some students will stand up and speak out their opinions.

3. Careful reading

Ask students to find the words which are related to the characters, years and places.

(1) Characters:  Frederick

              Frederick William

Peter the Great Czar

CatherineⅡ

The Nazi army

The Russians and Germans

Show them the questions on the screen:

What did these people do to the Amber Room?

Students can look at the exercise 1 in the comprehending part, and later some students stand up and connect the characters with the right sentences. After they find the right order, the teacher can show them the pictures of the changing of the owners.

(2) Years:  1716  1770  1941   2003

Show them the question on the screen:

    What happened in these years?

Ask some students to read the sentences in the text, and then summarize what happened in these years in a word.

Gift, redecorated, lost, rebuilt

(3) Places:

Show them three countries on the screen: Prussia, Russia, Germany. Then ask the students to find out the specific places, and draw the places changing pictures.

Step 4 Summary

Go back to the charaters, years and places changes of the Amber Room, help them review the content of this passage.

Step 5 Activitiy—Debate

I think it is worth rebuilding the Amber Room. Do you agree?

(You can use the expressions on page 6.)

Give them five minutes to prepare and discuss with the classmates. Divided them into two groups: one side is the students who agree with the statement: another side is the students who don’t agree with the statement.

  After they prepare and discuss, the teacher can let them have a competition to see which side will gain more laughing faces. Congratulate on the side which win the debate.

  Evaluate their performance, and tell them no matter whether it is worth rebuilding the cultural relics or not, we must remember one point—protect the cultural relics.

Step 5 Homework

1.Retell the story of the Amber Room to your partner.

2. Prepare for the next period.

Individual activity. Enjoy the pictures and answer the questions.

Individual work. Ask the students to skim whole passage and find out the main idea of each paragraph.

Ask student to scan one paragraph by one paragraph, and then answer some questions about the details.

Group activity.

Discuss in a group and share the information.

Discuss and learn how to express the agreement and disagreement.

Finish the task step by step after class.

七、资源与媒体利用

   通过图片进行导入,引起学生的注意力,增进师生间的互动,提高学生用英语说话的欲望,让他们形成良好的语言习惯。通过录音机和黑板的运用,使学生能够切身的体会到本文的内容。
