1. 教学内容介绍

本单元出自是人民教育出版社出版的高一英语新教材模块一的第五单元Nelson Mandela-a modern hero.这一单元的中心话题是当代英雄纳尔逊??????曼德拉(Nelson Mandela-a modern hero),主要介绍纳尔逊?曼德拉的生平事迹。通过对这一话题的探究,旨在使学生了解纳尔逊?曼德拉的生平事迹,认识伟人所具备的优秀品质,向他们学习,以提高自身的素质。本节课是这一单元的第二课时,是一节阅读课,阅读的文章题为Elias’ Story. 这一故事是以第一人称叙述了南非黑人所受到的不公正待遇以及他们为争取种族平等的斗争情况,通过介绍黑人工人Elias叙述他在纳尔逊?曼德拉的帮助之下生活所发生的重大变化,使学生从侧面更好地了解纳尔逊?曼德拉为黑人争取平等权利所做的伟大贡献,并学习纳尔逊?曼德拉的优秀品质。

2. 设计理念和思路

   根据新课程改革的要求,在课堂教学中,我以学生为主体采用任务型教学,任务型教学充分地体现了以人为本的教学理念,是一种先进的、有效的教学途径。在任务型教学中,教师在每一部分都设有一定的任务,并引导学生通过自主学习或者合作学习来完成,以体现任务型教学的应用核心,即:为用学,用中学,学后用。教师在教学过程中主要起到“导”的作用,也就是起到组织和引导的作用。本节课的设计思路如下:

导入:视频导入,直观清新。

阅读:任务一:学生听录音,并快速阅读课文,回答相关问题。

任务二:学生略读课文并完成一个表格和两个相关问题。

任务三:精读课文并完成判断正误题。

巩固:完成Elias的生平时间线索。

总结:学生总结曼德拉的优秀品质,结合实际生活进行讨论。

3. 教学目标

  能力目标

1.       让学生阅读理解伊莱亚斯的故事。

2.       进一步训练学生的略读,细读,归纳内容等阅读技巧,把握篇章中心内容,获取关键信息,并且能针对阅读内容表达自己的观点。

  知识目标

1.       了解本单元重点词语及词义。

2.       熟悉本单元的语法点:定语从句。

  情感目标

      1.学生能够了解关于南非人权斗争的背景以及曼德拉早期的政治生涯,体会种族歧视给黑人带来的不公平的命运。

2.引导学生认识纳尔逊?曼德拉的高贵品质,并结合实际生活向伟人学习。

4. 教学重点:

      1.引导学生学习曼德拉?曼德拉的优秀品质。

      2.提高学生的阅读技巧。

5. 教学难点:

      如何提高学生的阅读技巧

Step 1 Leading in

Good afternoon, class. Today we’re going to do some reading comprehension.Now I want to ask you a question. Are black people and white peole equal?

In fact, black people and white people are not equal in many ways. Let’s look at a part of a movie.

Show students the video.

Just now, we saw some terrible things.Today we’re ging to learn a story of another black person. It’s Elias’ Story.

Step2. Listening & Skimming

Listen to the tape. Then answer the questions.

1.       Who is Elias?

2.       When did Elias first meet Nelson Mandela?

Show the two questions on the screen.

Step3. Scanning<\/h2>

A. How many paragrahs are there in the text? I want to say: we can divide it into two parts. The first part includes Para1-2. At present let’s read the first part together with the tape .

Show the form on the screen. Lead the students to summarize the main idea of Part 1.

B.Ask the students: what’s the main idea of the second part? Then read the second part, and answer the questions:

1.       How did Mandela help Elias?

2.       To fight for equal rights, Mandela organized the ANC Youth League. Did Elias join it?

C. Lead the students to know the change of Elias’ life.

  Before meeting Mandela, Elias was a poor black worker in gold mine.

  After meeting Mandela, Elias helped to fight for equal rights for black people.

Step3. Comprehending

Since we’ve learned so much about the story, let’s do some true or false exercises.

 1. Elias went to see Nelson Mandela when he was in trouble.

2. Elias left school because the school was too far from his home.

3. Nelson Mandela helped him keep his job.

4. Elias trusted Nelson Mandela and he joined the ANC Youth League.

5. Elias was willing to blow up government buildings.

Step4. Consolidation <\/h1>

   Let’s make a timeline of Elias’ life.

   1940: Elias was born.

   1946: Elias began school.

   1948: Elias left school.

   1952: Elias first met Nelson Mandela.

   1963: Elias helped to blow up some government buildings.

Step5. Summary

   Tell the students: we have learnt that Elias’ life changed with the help of Mandela. Then what qualitities can we find from the text about Nelson Mandela.

Step6. Homework

1. Find more information about Nelson Mandela.

2. Read the text again and retell the story.

Individual activity. Look at  the pictures and have a revision.
